How to export data from Employee Central 1024x576 1

How to export data from Employee Central?

SAP Employee Central is superior HR software, which improves productivity by providing leaders with the data needed to make more effective business decisions. When working with this SuccessFactors tool, you will need to know how to export this data.

There are four main methods of exporting data from employee central:

  • UDF (User Data File)
  • Employee Delta Export
  • Generic Object Data
  • Exporting Data with Reporting

User Data File

The user data file can be exported from the Admin Center by selecting User Information, and then Employee Export in the navigation menu. Under the Specify Export Options section, the Valid users only option enables only active users in the export file. Once the Export User File button is selected, the file will download.

There is also the option to export this data as a batch, which is under the Specify File Language, and Batch/Scheduled Processing options section. If you are exporting data as a batch, you can download the file from the Monitor Jobs screen.

Employee Delta Export

This method is for exporting employee master data from Employee Central to various payroll systems. The data from an Employee Delta Export can download from the following option:

Admin Center > Reporting > Employee Delta Export

The Employee Delta Export leverages the Employee Central HRIS SOAP API in order to export the data from Employee Central into the workbooks.

Generic Object Data

This method can export the following data from SuccessFactors Employee Central:

  • Object Definitions
  • Object Data
  • MDF Picklists
  • Business Rules
  • Configuration UIs

This data is exported in a CSV file (dependant object CSV files are combined in a ZIP file).

To create a Generic Object Export, you will need to enter the Admin Center (in Employee Files) and select Import and Export Data in the navigation menu. To export the data from the system, select the Export Data dropdown, and choose the following options:

  • Select Generic Object
  • Include Dependencies
  • Include Immutable IDs
  • Exclude Reference Objects
  • Select All Data Records

Once you have selected your preferred options, select the Export button. Once processed, the export file will be available for download on the Monitor Jobs screen.

Exporting Data with Reporting

The Ad Hoc Reporting or Detailed Reporting option can export data in an Excel file. Ad Hoc Reporting is in the reporting section within the Admin Center. This can be found in the reporting section within the Admin Center.
